It was a heartbreaking scene for Debbie Maddalena-Saunders as she watcher her child scream out in pain.
Despite her pleas, the doctors did not believe her when she told them that her 6-year-old son Tyler was in horrible pain. He was no longer himself, he could barely even function.
He had spent most of his days crying out in discomfort. When he was just 8 months old, his skin was already starting to break out into rashes.

Unfortunately, as he grew older the condition only got worse.point 52 | It was so bad that he was no longer able to play, sleep, or even go to school.point 113 | On the days he did go to school, he was stared at and bullied for the sores on his body.point 184 | His classmates were relentlessly cruel even though Tyler was in constant pain.point 251 |
The pain of the eczema wasn’t just tough on Tyler, it was also tough for his mother who had to deal with the pain of watching her son struggle while she watched, powerless.point 146 | As any mother would tell you, watching your child in pain is absolutely unbearable.point 216 | 1
Despite her constant pleas, the doctors never understood how extreme Tyler’s condition was. With no other option, Debbie resorted to filming her son’s rashes and heartbreaking crying spells. She was unsure what else would convince the doctors. Even worse, the treatments that were recommended never worked, either. It seemed as though Tyler may have to live with this for the rest of his life.
In an interview with Kidspot, Debbie explained the hardship Tyler faced on an everyday basis.
When we would go out shopping, people would stop us and ask, “What’s wrong with him?” and suggest things he could try. I know they were only trying to help, but he was always reminded of it — the kids would point.

Debbie had tried countless treatments, all of which refused to work Still, Debbie was determined that she would find a treatment that would work and help her son live a happy and normal life.point 339 |
She scoured the internet until one night she stumbled upon a post on Facebook that caught her eye.point 81 | It was from a doctor in South Africa that claimed they had something that could help her.point 154 | At first Debbie was skeptical, but as she did research she became slowly convinced that it may be worth trying out.point 249 |

Nothing could’ve prepared Tyler and his mother for the incredible results. Within a mere three months, Tyler had a miraculous recovery. All of his symptoms were virtually gone, including the sores and pain. Tyler was even able to go back to school where he could learn and play with the other kids. Finally, after many long years and countless treatments that did nothing, Tyler was able to be a regular kid once again.
Debbie could not be happier that they finally found a treatment that worked for Tyler’s eczema.
He’s resilient beyond his years — there’s no doubt about it. He’s so elated and really proud and he should be, because he has worked really hard for it.
