Survey Result Says 74% of Economists Are Against Hiking Up Minimum Wage


According to a survey taken out recently where 197 working economists were questioned if they favor raising of the minimum federal wages to $15 an hour and the result was in majority.

74 percent of the working professionals said that they were not in favor of the same and about half, 43% of economists said that they were completely against the idea of federal minimum wage and that it should be eliminated out of the system altogether.

The Employment Policies Institute conducted the survey and the results were varied. The prime thing revealed out of the survey was how economists have become completely hostile towards raising the minimum federal wages. There were various other findings along with this like –

88% of economists said that according to them the federal minimum wages should not be as high as $15, 66% of them said that the appropriate amount should be $10 per hour or lesser than it.

84% Economists said that behind their disagreement of the rise of the federal minimum wages is that they fear it is going to give a negative impact on your for employment. 77% said that they fear that the rise of the minimum wage will result in a lack of job opportunities available.

There were 6% of economists who were in support of the motto that said if the minimum federal wages is hiked then it can positively affect the poverty. Conflicting the same, 38% of the economists said that they think this rise will actually result in the growth of poverty.

Economists are not the only one talking on the matter but the entire nation is involved in the same discussion.
