Radical Barrister Said Eating Meat Could Soon Be Banned Like Smoking

One of the most renowned lawyers of Great Britain has spoken out about his stance on the meat industry and claimed that just like smoking inside common areas, meat could soon be banned by law in countries around the globe.

Michael Mansfield QC believes that environmental problems at hand and increasing awareness about the pollution associated with meat production could force the governments to reduce meat production or even ban meat in total.

“I think when we look at the damage eating meat is doing to the planet it is not preposterous to think that one day it will become illegal. There are plenty of things that were once commonplace that are now illegal such as smoking inside,” Mansfield said during a conference.

Whether you support the barrister’s claims or not, there is no denying the truth associated with his speech.

According to vegan charity Viva, 25% of the greenhouse gases produced worldwide derive from agriculture, whereas 80% of those 25% originates from livestock farming.

“Thirty years ago people didn’t bat an eyelid if you lit a cigarette in a pub or restaurant. But now society accepts smoking is harmful and totally unnecessary and so we legislated against it,” Juliet Gellatley of Viva said in an interview with Sky News.

“The same could happen with eating meat.”

Besides the negative effects of livestock farming on our environment, animal rights activists are also restlessly pursuing the idea of humanity switching to plant-based, animal cruelty-free lifestyle.
