A drunk woman from Australia was arrested and charged with assault after licking, spitting, and coughing on police officers.
According to Geelong Advertiser, the incident occurred in Norlane where the police approached 47-year-old Kimberley Maddison Blair after a concerned resident reported her for knocking on her front door late in the evening.
When the officers arrived at the resident’s home, Blair was found lying on a footpath before launching a verbal attack at the cops and spitting at them.
As the Geelong Magistrates Court heard, the 47-year-old’s row with the police followed after she downed two bottles of vodka.
According to Chris Capuano, the prosecutor, the woman told the police that she should be in self-isolation because she contracted the novel coronavirus from her friend.
Following the inquest, however, it was revealed that Blair wasn’t tested for the virus.
During the escalation with the police, Blair allegedly got aggressive after she was instructed to keep distance after coughing at the officers. She then launched a verbal attack at the cops before spitting on them.
According to Senior Constable Capuano, the 47-year-old licked one of the cops and wished he would get coronavirus after they moved in to restrain her.
After the incident, Blair apologized for her actions in a letter obtained by the court.
“I am disgusted and I apologize. I am very sorry,” she allegedly wrote.
As Hilary Russell, the woman’s lawyer, explained, Blair had been suffering from mental health issues and addiction to alcohol.
According to the reports, Blair doesn’t recall what had happened on the night of her arrest.
