Drug Addict Homeless Pregnant Woman Approached A Cop And Asked Him To Adopt Her Unborn Child

There are struggles and everybody finds a different way to live with their struggles. Sometimes they fail while sometimes struggle gets the better out of them.

Albuquerque Police Officer Ryan Holtes was on patrol when he encountered a homeless couple. They were sitting behind a convenience store when officer Holets approached them.

Officer Holets saw something that completely shook him. The pair was caught taking drugs by the officer but what made him angry and troubling was that the woman who was abusing drugs was heavily pregnant.

He couldn’t believe his eyes, he told the woman that she is going to kill her baby. Seeing the officer, the woman broke into tears. Crystal Champ, the homeless pregnant woman told Ryan that it has been two years since she was homeless and the fact that she was struggling with her heroin addiction since she was a teenager.

She said that she has tried a lot to get over her addiction but one way or another, opioids always wins. And then she said something to Officer Holtes about her unborn baby that completely changed his life.

Crystal Champ has been living the life of a homeless for the past two years. She lives in a tent in New Mexico. Officer Holtes noticed that she was 7-8 months pregnant and it made him angrier because instead of taking care of the bay in the womb she was sedating herself with opioids.

When officer Holtes scolded her for being like this, she said that he doesn’t know how hard it is for her. She said that she was a horrible person and her horrible situation has only made it worse.

She said that she has tried a lot to get over her addiction but she always comes weaker and relapse. She told officer Holtes that she is in desperate need of someone who is willing to adopt her unborn child.

After hearing this, officer Holtes’ heart grew softer and warmer. Instead of a strict police officer, he was now more of a caring and humble human being. He felt nothing but sympathy and sadness for the woman.

He said that he has been in many situations where if he even wanted to help, he couldn’t. Suddenly, he generated a thought of adopting Crystal’s baby. He was already a father to four kids and without asking his wife Rebecca about it, he laid down the proposal to Crystal.

He knew that he could take a good care of that child and in fact, Officer Holtes and his wife Rebecca were already planning to adopt a child. He said that it was God who was telling him what to do and he accepted the offer because he knew that he can.

He made the decision to adopt Crystal’s unborn baby without discussing it with Rebecca. To his surprise, his wife was more supportive of his decision and was excited about the adoption.

After three weeks, Crystal gave birth to a baby girl. Ryan and Rebecca named the girl Hope. Unfortunately, Hope was also addicted to drugs given that her mother Crystal was a regular doser.

Pregnant mothers who constantly abuses drugs make their unborn suffer from Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). However, the doctors didn’t lose hope on Hope and with several detox and withdrawal procedures, she is now in stable condition.

Officer Holets said that when Hope grows to an age where she could understand things, they would like to tell her her birth story. They are also trying hard to find a place for Crystal.

Crystal and officer Holets believe that it was fate that they came together.
