Study Found Drivers Who Don’t Strap Their Dogs Into Their Cars Put Their Lives At Risk


A recent study found that drivers are putting their lives at risk by not strapping their dogs into their cars.

A poll was conducted that revealed that among 1,000 dog-owning drivers, 45 percent don’t strap their dogs into their cars, putting their and other passengers live at risk.

The poll also revealed that almost half dog-owning drivers allow their pets to roam freely in their cars when they are driving.

Experts estimated that if you don’t strap your pets into your cars, chances are they can develop projection forces 40 times that of its weight in a crash at 25mph.

If you don’t strap your pets into your cars, insurance claims can also be invalidated in case of an accident.

The Ford survey found 29 percent said their dog ‘doesn’t like being strapped down’ while another 17 percent said they could not fit a dog crate into their cars.

Ford engineer Rene Berns said: “Most people would be heartbroken if anything ever happened to their beloved dog – and nobody expects to crash.”

“But it is vital that, for everyone’s benefit, full safety precautions are taken when transporting our four-legged friends.”

The poll of 1,000 dog-owning drivers also revealed that 37 percent of drivers allow their pets to stick their heads out of the car window while 35 percent said they get distracted by their pets while driving.
