People have been left divided after a man revealed that the person who crashed into his car ran away without leaving behind their contact details.
Taking to TikTok to share his experience, @Professor_taz revealed how his car suffered a huge dent when another driver crashed into it while the vehicle was parked.
Rather than leaving behind contact details or waiting for the car’s owner, the hit-and-run suspect provided an explanation and compensated the victim with snacks.
“I’m sorry for hitting you car. It was an accident. I don’t have money or insurance but here’s snacks. Sowwy,” the letter, which @Professor_taz showed in his viral video, read.
Along with the letter, the man also received “some Ritz Bits and some Cheetos” as a peace offering.
After showing off the letter and the compensation, the man directed the camera to his car to reveal the damage done to the vehicle.
While @Professor_taz refrained from taking aim at the person responsible for the damage, other social media users were quick to condemn the actions of the writer of the letter.
“Yeah let’s not normalize this and I hope you find them and hold them accountable,” someone wrote.
“So $2,000 in damages but $5 worth of snacks… yeah that seems fair,” another one added.
While many users couldn’t help but share their anger over the ‘condescending’ note, others rushed to the perpetrator’s side saying things could be worse.
“Why you complaining they still left you something they could’ve just taken off and left nothing. At least they tried – insurance will cover it,” someone suggested.
