A hit-and-run suspect reportedly abandoned their dog and fled the scene on foot after crashing into a brick wall.
The incident took place in Braintree, England, where officers of Essex Police came across an abandoned van that crashed into a brick wall.
Following the Saturday night collision, the driver of the van fled the scene and left behind their adorable dog who was not discovered until the morning following the accident.
“Yesterday officers came across a fail to stop road collision in Braintree where a brick wall had been damaged by a vehicle overnight,” Essex Police revealed in a Facebook post.
“The officers were a little shocked by the driver. The lovely dog was left in the vehicle overnight to take the rap while their human did a runner.
“The dog has been taken to a vet to be checked over etc and the vehicle was seized. Please don’t try this at home.”
In one of the photos taken at the scene of the accident, a dog is seen sitting on the passenger’s seat of the van and looking unhappily at the camera.
In another photo, the damage done to the brick wall is documented, whereas broken bricks are seen scattered across what appears to be a driveway.
Following the incident, social media users have condemned the driver and called for the authorities to permanently seize the dog from its careless owner who left it behind after the accident.
