If you pitted a fighter jet against any land vehicle, you’d think that the jet would win hands down, right? But a dream super race that many thought could only exist in video games (or, perhaps, a Fast & Furious movie) was actually held at Istanbul’s new international airport ahead of its official opening in October. And the results of the race may surprise you.
The race featured a Kawasaki H2R motorcycle, Tesla P100DL, Aston Martin New Vantage, Lotus Evora GT 430, a Formula 1 car, a private jet, and an F-16 fighter jet all going head-to-head in a 400-meter dash to see who was the king of speed.
The race was held as part of the aviation, space, and technology festival and we have to thank whoever organized the event for thinking up this super race.
Watch the race below!
Supersport World Champion Kenan Sofuoglu, from Turkey, won the race in his Kawasaki H2R motorcycle with the Red Bull car, driven by British Formula 1 driver Jake Dennis, coming in a close second.
Solo Turk’s F-16 jet finished in third place while the Tesla P100DL driven by Emma Kimilainen came in fourth.
The Aston Martin New Vantage was driven by Yagiz Avci while Toprak Razgatlioglu was in the Lotus Evora GT 430.
While the results may seem surprising, we have to realize that it was a test of burst speed within 400 meters. We all know that given enough room, everyone would have been inhaling the F-16’s exhaust fumes with its single engine putting out 27,000 lbs of thrust to give it a maximum speed of 1,500 mph.
Still, it was a fun thing to watch and if you’re looking for a quick getaway on land, then you can place your bets on the Kawasaki H2R.
