Phil, has been under fire after it became known that his various production companies received up to $7 million in government aid, despite reporting a worth of approximately $400 million from his talk show.

According to a report by Page Six, the aid seems more problematic because it has been reported that Dr. Phil’s son spent over $10 million to purchase a mansion in Beverley Hills.

The government program that is aiding Dr. Phil is the Paycheck Protection Program, one of the largest public funds that has been arranged by the US government to aid small businesses who have been impacted by the global pandemic.

McGraw owns two production companies – Stage 29 Productions and Peteski Productions. The first, which is operated together with his son Jay, received a cheap loan between $1 million and $2 million. The latter is expected to receive an even greater amount of $2 million to $5 million.

While the receiving of an aid itself may not be a great problem, especially because there is nothing technically wrong with receiving help from the government, the actions of Jordan McGraw, Phil’s youngest son, enraged the public.

Jordan is a up-and-coming musician, but has failed to achieve stardom so far. He has been engaged with Morgan Stewart, reality star and E! host.

According to Variety, Jordan paid $10 million in cash to purchase a large mansion in the richest neighborhood in California. The mansion is reported as being located in the Trousdale Estates that is 6,500 square feet.

As of now, there is no report or proof that any of the money that was received from the government was used in the splurge for the luxurious house that the younger McGraw purchased. Those close to the host said that the loan was used exclusively to pay employees.

This is not the first controversy that the TV host has gotten involved in since the outbreak of the global pandemic. Back in April, Dr. Phil questioned the necessity of a national lockdown during an interview with Fox News.

In it, McGraw argued that there is no lockdown to prevent deaths from traffic accidents or swimming pool accidents. He has since apologized for his remarks.
