In a horrifying incident, a double-decker bus’ crash resulted in its roof being sliced off.
As a result, several passengers suffered injuries with one battling for like.
A sixty-three-year-old man who was thought to be the driver of the bus was arrested at the scene.
A twenty-two-year-old computer science student, Alastair Hawkes, from Kettering, was present on the top deck during the crash.
He was shocked by the incident as he generally sits in the front in a bus and this incident could have killed him.
He said that he was reading on his phone when there was a sudden halt with the crunching of glass that cut a lady.
She was bleeding heavily and was immediately flown to a Cardiff hospital due to her serious injuries. He further said that an elderly man was left stunned.
Tom Evans works near the crash scene and described it as if a tin opener had taken the top off the bus.
After the incident, he arrived at the scene shortly and according to him, the bus driver misjudged the height of the railway bridge and proceeded to the drive under it.
He said that he heard a loud noise, which made him visit the scene immediately and reported that the police arrived soon after.
He first thought it was a clap of thunder because it was raining bu then he saw an ambulance and though that someone crashed on the M4. Soon he saw all of them and realized that it was the bus.
The incident left eight people injured with four people admitted to Swansea’s Morriston Hospital, two in Neath Port Talbot’s minor injuries unit and the lady was airlifted to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
