Donald Trump Boasts of Smashing Elton John’s Attendance Record

On Thursday night, President Trump addressed a crowd at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire.

He later tweeted that the crowd that came in there was ‘just over 11,500’ and that means he broke the record of Elton John that was set in April 2004.

It was also confirmed by the Manchester Deputy Fire Marshal, Mitchell Cady who added that there were around 8,000 people more outside the Arena who saw the proceedings on giant screens placed outside.

Cady said that based on crowd load calculations, he has also arrived at the same figure that Trump had tweeted earlier and therefore, the tweet seems to have some credence this time around.

As always, the tweet led to debates – The tweet from the president was not without its share of controversies either. As expected, it led to debates as to whether the President was exaggerating his popularity in a state where he had lost earlier in 2016!

Photographs and video feeds of the rally also showed empty seats in its upper areas and that does leave enough doubt on the mentioned figures.

However, the officials seem to be on the side of the President this time as they try to offer justification by saying that those ‘empty seats’ can easily offset the crowd that was waiting outside.

It happened on an earlier occasion also – On February 3, 2016, the then-future President, Trump attended a campaign rally at Little Rock Arkansas and quoted a fire marshall there to say that he had smashed the attendance record of the place set by ZZ Top at 11, 451 in 1974!

However, the fire marshall eventually turned out to be the facility manager of the place and the report was also untrue! The crowd size over there was less than 6,000 for the Trump event!
