Only hours after her birth, a newborn girl was abandoned in a sewer drain, according to doctors.
The unidentified baby was hospitalized after an amazing rescue gave her another chance to survive.
A surveillance camera showed the astonishing moment the baby’s cries attracted the attention of four-legged heroes.
Three stray dogs approached and sniffed around the drain trying to locate the source of the sounds. One decided to wander off but the two of them stopped to investigate further.
Going inside the drain, the heroic pooches found the baby and dragged her out. A motorist passed by and one of the dogs dragged the girl to the side of the street to keep her away from danger.
After pulling the baby from the drain, they started barking to get the attention of people nearby. Good Samaritans noticed the dogs and rushed the baby to a hospital.
The little girl was diagnosed with several head injuries but fortunately, she was alive. “She is likely a premature baby born after seven months of pregnancy,” said principal medical officer Dinesh Kansal.
“We decided to keep her under observation as transit could be life-threatening for her.”
The camera that captured the baby’s rescue also caught the moment she was abandoned. The footage showed a woman tossing the newborn into the drain before running away from the scene.
The case is being investigated, hoping to identify the culprit. Officers said the baby remains in hospital and continues to fight for her life, according to News 18.
Thanks to the dogs and Good Samaritans, this baby was given another chance at life.
