Dogs Inhumanely Poisoned Through Sheer Ignorance in Corona-stricken Lebanon


Although animal abuse and sacrifice has been existent since the beginning of human domination, it has been reprimanded by social norms and the domestication of canines and felines, at most.

It takes a psychopathic amount of unhinged ignorance to be cruel to fellow creatures’ innocence during normalcy, nor is it met with a blind response.

But in times of crises, humans have been known to be blissfully ignorant and turn a blind eye to the madness that his neighbors may create.

So when push came to shove in this remote Lebanese town, as is always, it was the innocent that took the crucifixion for the sake of the cruel nonsense of human beings. However, we have also observed reasons to still maintain in humanity in this very occasion, contrary to the sadly popular notion.

Arab News reports of unimaginable accounts filing in from Lebanon, showing images and reports circulating on Twitter hashtags. The images are at the very least, brutal and very much obscene with viewer discretion advised.

So the week previous before the incident, a baseless rumor started to surge through local Lebanese media reports, which claimed that canines were the main hosts to the Coronavirus and that their wild tendencies to roam prove as a major threat to such communities that “let the dogs out”.

Although officials and scientists were quick to rebuff and reclaim the articles that circulated as unscientific if not intentional, it hit the spot.

Within days, normal civilians and animal rights activists notified the world of the irreparable damages caused by a single bluff of false news.

Canines of many various sorts were found foaming in their mouths, mostly asphyxiated at a tormenting level.
Many were found dead on the spot, while others were indeed gagging for survival.

“Here in Bsalim, due to the ignorance of some people who ignored the recommendations of the World Health Organization, one of them put poisoned meat on a street to kill pet dogs (friends of man). Watch Odin wrestle with death and his condition critical. You are criminals, criminals,” Joe Maalouf, a Lebanese TV presenter and animal rights activist, commented.

The causes were soon spotted as some dogs were found with poisoned meats laying about them.

However, humanity still exists and acts as a guardian to human evil as a contrary measure, as above-said. Within minutes of these reports, Lebanese officials were quick to deal with the harrowing leftovers of the doggos.

Casey Behravesh, director of the agency’s One Health Office in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases was quick to acknowledge that:

“CDC does not have evidence that pets can spread COVID-19, and there’s no reason to think pets might be a source of infection based on the information we have at this time,”, she said.
