1-year-old Maru, a Bullmastiff, was rejected by her owner who said she was allergic to dogs. The puppy was sent on the train back to the kennels where she was born.

However, Maru escaped when the train stopped near Achinsk. She opened a compartment door using her paws and ran back towards her previous owner.

Train staff who were searching for her couldn’t find the pooch.

Alla Morozova, the kennel owner in Novosibirsk city, organized a search for the lost dog and also asked people on social media for any information.

Almost three days later, the wounded and exhausted Bullmastiff was spotted at an industrial estate near the home of the owner who had abandoned her.

Rejected Maru had tears in her eyes.

The pooch had followed the Trans-Siberian railway track and had walked 125 miles. “Luckily neither bears ate her, nor wolves chewed her up,” Ms. Morozova said to The Siberian Times.

“She was very tired. She was lame, her paws were broken. The pads on her feet were damaged. Her muzzle was broken.”

The tired pooch fell down a railway in embankment before she was discovered and rescued. According to train staff, the dog had suffered a panic attack and was scared to be away from her owner and home.

“The noise of the train scared her,” they said. When the train stopped, “she jumped out like a bullet.”

Ms. Morozowa was angry as the owner who refused to take the dog didn’t even join the search for the lost pooch. Maru was then driven to Novosibirsk where she received treatment for her injuries.
