This is a heartwarming moment Rusty the family dog shared his drinking water with a very thirsty koala amid the drought and bushfire crisis in Australia.
A family from Adelaide Hills in South Australia shared the adorable video of their dog Rusty, who has a regular backyard visitor.
Quasi the koala goes to their backyard for a drink and also rest in one of their trees.
Danielle Stone captured the moment and the footage shows Rusty greeting his little pal as they share a drink before rubbing their noses together.
When the exhausted koala goes to their veranda, they place eucalyptus leaves for him to eat.
“Rusty doesn’t mind sharing the water bowl at all,” Danielle said to 7News, adding that their pet dog is always excited when the koala pays a visit.
“I think humans could learn a thing or two from this pair.”
The adorable video was shared on Facebook by a family friend and has quickly went viral, gaining over 150,000 shares.
He wrote: “These two have known each other for several years.”
Quasi and Rusty’s strong bond inspired and uplifted the spirits of many people as devastating bushfires continue to rage parts of Australia.
“Oh my gosh my heart can’t take the cuteness! How sweet this is… I could watch videos like this forever. My heart is broken for what’s happening in Australia. I wish I could give all the creatures sanctuary here in BC. Even the scary spiders and deadly snakes. My heart breaks for the terror every last one of them must be feeling,” one internet user wrote.
