The areas along the 1,280 mile long river were forced to evacuate. Record flooding was expected.

During an evacuation you should take all of your prized possessions, such as photographs, important documents and enough clothing to last you at least a week. Sadly one family decided that their furry family member just wasn’t worth saving. Even worse, they left their dog chained to the house!

We will never know what events unfolded to the point where the beautiful dog was left, but one thing was clear. If the dog wasn’t able to escape her chain, the water levels would soon get to her. You can see the footage that she struggled to stay afloat, with nowhere to go. It’s hard to not feel powerless when watching the footage.

At the end of the clip you can see her working with the staff at the Houston Humane Society. Clever viewers may notice that her behavior is very skittish, suggesting that she was abused before this incident as well.

It’s truly a story of the right people in the right place at the right time! The vet who did her checkup said that if the news crew hadn’t saved her, she would’ve surely died. Hopefully now she will find a forever home that treats her with the love and respect she deserves.
