A neglected homeless dog was caught on camera jumping and screaming like a person when he saw the ocean for the first time in his life.
The German Shepherd, Herschel, had a life full of neglect and uncaring owners before he was taken in by another family.
Sadly, however, his energetic character was soon mistaken for aggression and the family who adopted him took him back to the shelter.
Fortunately, another family took interest in the poor dog after he was taken in by Michelson Found Animals who provided him with required grooming and medical attention.
Additionally, before giving Herschel to his new owner, Rocky Kanaka gave the pooch the day of his life as a part of his “Dogs Day Out” program.
Speaking of the program and Hershel’s rescue story, Rocky wrote:
“On #DogsDayOut I take a dog out on the best day they have ever had. In Herschel’s case it was a success. With the video going viral and millions of people seeing it hundreds of people submitted applications and now he has his perfect forever family.
“To get him from Los Angeles California to Washington State we are taking him on a road trip and meeting his new forever family in Redding California. If you love rescue dogs, German shepherds, or happy viral videos then follow along on this guys journey.”
Rocky and Herschel began their trip by playing on a mountain of snow and continued it with a ride to the beachfront. During the long ride, Rocky treated Herschel to various drinks and foods he never tried before.
After finally making it to the sea, the rescue dog’s spunky nature fully flourished. Upon seeing the water, Herschel began screaming like a person and jumping excitedly.
