Woman Drove 1,400 Miles To Reunite A Lost Dog With The Family

One little puppy traveled 1400 miles from her home in Lehigh Acres, Florida, to Midland, Michigan.

She simply showed up, in the middle of a street, on March 3.

The pit bull mix puppy, named Blue, got separated from her family in Lehigh Acres, Florida and mysteriously turned up in Michigan last week.

A local humane society discovered who Blue’s owners were thanks to her microchip, with one kind volunteer offering to take her on a road trip back home. But the reunion was anything but sweet when they finally arrived.

Blue’s owner, who did not want to be named, said that she did not have time to care for the dog anymore. ‘She gave up the dog after I drove more than 1,400 miles.

The only thing she said was that she doesn’t have time to train the dog, she doesn’t have time for the dog,’ the volunteer at the Midland Humane Society in Michigan told the Detroit Free Press.

The animal worker said she took vacation time off to deliver Blue and added that the result was heartbreaking when she saw how excited the dog was to be home.

She also said that Blue’s owner, who is 22-years old, has three dogs who have all been stolen or run away. ‘I just kind of just put my hands up, like “OK, well, if you don’t want the dog,’” she said.

‘If I left the dog at the house, it was just going to run away again. While I was talking, somebody else came to the door and the dog just took off. I knew it wasn’t going to be a good situation.’

After the anticlimactic homecoming, the volunteer put Blue back in her car and began driving back to Michigan with hopes of finding the pup a new home.

‘Blue is a great dog. She jumps on everybody and gives kisses,’ the volunteer said, adding that she would consider adopting Blue if she was not already caring for four dogs.

In a Facebook post, the Humane Society of Midland County wrote:’We are sad to announce (although you May have already heard) that Blue did not make it home. Through no fault of anyone, Blue is now headed back to Michigan where we will find her forever home.’

“Due to changing circumstances her family was unable to keep her and we’d like to respect their reasons and their privacy.”

“We want to thank her transporters for their dedication to Blue, as well as everyone else who has helped along the way. No one could have predicted this unfortunate turn of events but we can now only focus on what is most important which is finding Blue a forever home.”

Thankfully someone had spotted her and decided to give the pit bull puppy another shot at being part of a family, adopting her about an hour after she got back to Michigan.

Hopefully Blue will keep her travels local from now on!
