Some people have observed that given long enough, dogs start resembling their owners, both in behavior and in looks.
It’s not clear if it’s a case of the animals imitating their owners or humans starting to identify themselves with their dogs. Whatever the case may be, the fact is that humans and dogs have formed a very strong bond over the millennia.
So it shouldn’t be surprising that dogs form friendships with each other (and with other pets) and even have best buddies, just as humans do.

But is this really something that they picked up from exposure to humans or is this just the way life is, where compassion and kindness manifest even among creatures who don’t have the same intellectual capacity as humans?
If it doesn’t take a smart person to have a heart, this probably means that being loving is an even deeper form of communication than highfalutin words can be. This can be seen in the instinctive caring that animal mothers, even in the wild, display towards their offspring.
In the case of one household, the friendship between two dogs was very much on display. The bigger dog is missing one hind leg and was sick, so he had spent some time at the veterinarian’s clinic. His buddy, who’s smaller, can’t help but run up in joy when his best bud finally shows up at home again.
The other dog can’t really jump and frolic around not just because of his missing leg but probably also because he’s still recovering from his ordeal. But his body language seems to indicate that he appreciates the warm welcome his buddy gave him and the cheering up that’s so sorely needed.

Because we’re taking charge of a living creature, acquiring a pet is a big responsibility. Not quite the same level of responsibility as raising a child but it’s an important responsibility nevertheless.
And when one has managed to provide a loving and compassionate environment for one’s pets then it’s easy to see their friendship and emotions flower so that it not only encompasses the owner but also defines their dealings with each other just as the video shows.
