An adorable dog was found abandoned on a bench along with a heartbreaking note revealing the animal’s sad story.
The tear-jerking incident took place in Mexico City, Mexico, where an unidentified resident tied their dog to a bench in a local park.
Along with the pooch, the person left a letter explaining how abandoning the dog was the only way to stop it from getting maltreated by relatives.
The letter, which was presumably written by a child, went on to ask if someone could adopt the dog and give him a better life.
“Hi, please adopt me: Max. Please, I ask that you adopt this cute dog and you take good care of him,” the heartbreaking letter read according to The Dodo.
“It hurts a lot to leave my dog here but I made the decision of leaving him because my family used to mistreat him and it would always hurt me to see him in that condition.
“If you’re reading this and your heart wavers, please adopt him and take good care of him. If not, please leave this note in its place. That way others can read it and adopt him. Thank you.”
After the Mascotas Coyoacán rescuers arrived at the scene, they found Max nervous and shaking in fear.
Fortunately, they eventually managed to free the 7-month-old pooch from his chain and take him to safety where he is now rehabilitating and waiting for a forever home.
As the dog’s rescuer, Marcela Goldberg, told The Dodo, Max, who now goes under the name of Boston, completely changed and let down his guard just days after his rescue.
“He is sweet, very affectionate, he loves to give kisses and play with the ball that the vet gave him,” she said.
