‘Price Is Right!’ Doctors Under Investigation After They Played With Patients’ Organs During Surgeries


A health system in Michigan has launched an investigation after Instagram photos show doctors playing with patients’ organs and tissues.

According to WOOD-TV, the viral photos show a patient in an operating room while surgeons played with an organ and fibrous tissue removed during the surgery.

On the tissue photo, doctors wrote: “Longest one wins! Good work.”

“The other game we play in the OR is guess that weight. It applies to much more than just babies. As always, ‘Price is Right’ rules apply so if you go over then you’re out!” the other post reads.

Doctors behind the disturbing posts described themselves as 35 gynecology and obstetrics residents training at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.

The hospital system said an investigation has already been launched.

In a statement to the TV station, Spectrum Health said: “We were disappointed to learn that surgical images were posted on an Instagram account used by a group of residents and are taking steps to resolve this issue.

“The Instagram account has been closed and a full investigation is underway.”

WOOD-TV reported that it messaged the group but the Instagram page, which was not officially connected to the health system, was later removed.

A spokesperson for the Washington-based National Patient Advocate Foundation, Caitlin Donovan, said “health care is not a game to people, it’s their life.”

She added: “How do you trust someone who does that? You want to make sure as a patient that you trust your provider. You want to make sure they respect you. If you don´t think your doctor respects you as a person, then how in the world can you trust them with your life?”
