A doctor who was scared that she would die from COVID-19 as she was lying in the hospital bed was released just a few days after taking the Ebola drug.
Geraldine McGroarty was back at work 3 weeks after she was admitted for the first time, having agreed to consume an antiviral drug redeliver as a part of the trial before she magically recovered.
The thirty-year-old doctor, who works as the A&E locum doctor as well as a surgical registrar, was taken to London’s Royal Free Hospital on 5th April with skyrocketing heart rate and a 40C fever.
She noted that she also had a very uncomfortable tight feeling in her chest. She also revealed that she wanted to inhale deep breaths but could not, and she was unable to even speak because she was breathless.
The lady doctor features in BBC2’S Hospital Special: Fighting Covid-19 documentary and was seen consuming the Ebola drug, which has been passed for the emergency authorization use by FDA (the Food and Drug Administration, U.S.A.) since then.
When Geraldine arrived at the hospital, her X-rays showed serious pneumonia while her tests depicted high levels of the inflammatory markers in blood, probably due to the severe infection.
The courageous doctor, who was being treated by her colleagues at a hospital she works in, was very fit before her fight with the deadly bug, which may have aided in her recovery.
In the same documentary, two other patients are shown refusing to get involved in the trial while numerous others have not witnessed the same favorable results as Geraldine.
The lady doctor noted that she could not believe what was happening and termed it scary. She added that while on her COVID-19 ward, all she was wondering was whether she would survive or not.
Geraldine regularly runs 10 km and plays rugby, and just a week before, she had finished 10 km in only 46 minutes. She admitted that for now she is fine but is unaware of long-term damage her body might have gone through.
