Doctors were forced to issue a medical warning after a TikTok video promoting the use of erection cream on lips went viral.
In the clip that has taken over the internet, TikToker Jerry Mal explained how he applied erection cream on his lips in order to make them bigger and fuller.
“Basically, I saw a movie and this girl put erection cream on her lips and it made them really big, so I wanted to try it. I forgot what the movie was called but here we go,” he said.
After spreading the cream over his lips, the young man revealed that “it kind of tingles” before showing off the results to the viewers.
“It’s been three more minutes and I said I was going to do five, but it’s burning really bad, so I’m going to take it off and we’ll see,” he added before cleaning his face and admitting he liked his new look.
While the beauty ‘hack’ appeared to work on Mal, doctors were quick to issue warnings after the video went viral.
“Putting erection cream on your lips in a bid for a fuller pout is utterly ridiculous and can be extremely dangerous for a number of reasons,” Dr Ross Perry, the Founder and Medical Director of Cosmedics, said according to Metro.
“Individuals trying this could suffer an allergic reaction such as stinging, soreness, blisters and uncomfortable swelling.”
As the doctor added, applying erection cream on lips could lead to a series of severe health complications including heart problems.
“Other side effects from the absorption of the cream as it goes into the body can create headaches, blood pressure problems and even possible heart problems. The cream could also flare up cold sores if you’re prone to them already,” he added.
