The man who became a doctor, a Navy SEAL, and a NASA astronaut by the age of just 35 became the first Korean-American to have the honor to go to space.
35-year-old Jonny Kim has become the first Korean-American NASA astronaut ever after finishing his studies at Harvard Medical School and serving as a Navy SEAL.
The man with big dreams is one of 13 graduates that have recently passed the NASA Artemis program test and qualified to become astronauts.
Sharing his joy upon the achievement on Twitter, Mr. Kim wrote:
“A true privilege and honor to walk among the @NASA Astronaut Corps with my brothers and sisters.
“We know there are many qualified and deserving candidates out there – we’re the lucky ones to represent humanity. Let’s work towards a better future for our world and our children.”
According to the reports, two of the candidates who made the cut were sent by the Canadian Space Agency whereas he and the other graduates were picked from a pool of over 18,000 applicants.
As CNN reported, Kim’s parents arrived in the States in search of a better life. As he was growing up, he graduated from an L.A. high school before becoming a Navy SEAL and serving as a navigator, a sniper, and a medic in over one hundred operations.
Following his retirement from the world of combat, the ambitious genius secured a doctorate from Harvard Medical School.
In 2017, Kim was accepted into NASA’s Artemis program where he spent two years training to become an astronaut worthy of going to space.
