Two divers captured on camera the horrifying moment they came face-to-face with an anaconda that was so big it could swallow them whole!
Juca Ygarape and his friend Bartolomeo Bove were diving in the Formoso River in Brazil when they saw the Green Anaconda, the biggest living snake in the world!
The reptile, which measured 23ft (7 meters) was seen lying on the riverbed. The creature then faced the camera and flicked out its tongue!
For some reasons, the 90kg snake decided to move and slithered away from Bove, who was filming the rare encounter instead of swimming off or panicking like most of us would!
He even followed the anaconda, determined to get more of the green reptile! His determination then paid off and he got some astonishing footage of the creature.
Bove explained that his video shows how big snakes are misunderstood and they are not aggressive animals most people may think they are.
“The rivers and the bodies of water around the Bonito area are the only places in South America where anacondas can be found in crystal clear waters, and therefore diving with them is possible,” Bove expressed.
“As shown in the footage the anaconda swims calm and peaceful, completely indifferent to our presence – sometimes she comes closer, curious about my camera [and] licking the lens.
“The behaviour of the anaconda debunks the myth that it is an aggressive and violent creature that can endanger people’s lives.”
The Green Anaconda is the biggest species of snake in the world. They can grow up to 30ft (9.1m) long and weigh up to 550lbs (250kg).
These creatures kill by wrapping themselves around their prey. They can also unhinge their jaws to swallow bodies bigger than their own. Yikes!
But Bove and his friend stayed calm and spent some time with the green anaconda.
