Heavy Metal Band Disturbed Made A Cover Of ‘The Sound Of Silence’


When singers cover their favorite songs of the artists they admire, they are sometimes worried that they might not do well but enjoy the process itself of making a song.

They rearrange the song, record using their own voices, and play instruments of their own.

So as they hear the news that an original songwriter or singer likes the cover version, they are so delighted.

When heavy metal group Disturbed recorded a Simon & Garfunkel‘s big hit, ‘The Sound Of Silence’ for their 2015 collection Immortalized, the band had no clue what would come next.

With the cover of the song, this Chicago-based band appealed new fans from all over the world.

Moreover, Paul Simon, the original singer and composer who worked on this song for several months in 1963 and 1964, complemented on his Facebook page.

On the comment section of the video on Simon’s Facebook page, the vocalist for Disturbed David Draiman commented ” Thanks so much to everyone for their kind words, and especially to Mr. Paul Simon himself. We did our damnedest to pay tribute to one of the most prolific, and legendary songwriters of all time. We are humbled and grateful beyond words.”
