According to executives from LEGO, the company revealed last month how it had been ordered by Disney officials to drop the ‘Slave-1’ name from the famous Boba Fett starship. Therefore, that means the ever-so-popular name would be limited to Starship only, at the demand of executives from Disney.

While both LEGO, as well as Disney, failed to provide any form of justification for the name-changing act, many were quick to point out how it was afraid of being called out for its racist connotations. This makes Disney one of the newest companies to drop the word ‘slave’ from its merchandise.

The decision was announced by the lead designer of LEGO Star Wars who is Michael Lee Stockwell, as reported by the Jedi News recently. “It is probably not something major that was announced public but it’s just something that the company feels isn’t necessary to make use of anymore,” he went on to explain.

While Disney has been contacted by several media outlets for comment, it is yet to respond to the queries being asked, displaying a rather hush stance on the ordeal.

But the move was not taken positively by both fans and critics who didn’t feel the need for such a bold stance on such an iconic ship of Star Wars. In the same way, the Boba Fett actor was also amongst those who criticized the move harshly because he didn’t find anything ‘racist’ about it.
