Disabled Man Bitten By Passenger After Asking Him To Wear His Face Mask Properly


A disabled man has been left with a gruesome bite wound after being attacked by a bus passenger whom he asked to wear his face mask properly.

The incident occurred in Belgium where 56-year-old Robert Murphy, who is disabled, got bitten on his chest two times for confronting a couple about not wearing their face masks the right way.

As Murphy explained, he was on a bus in Merksem when a passenger behind him sneezed, causing the 56-year-old to feel droplets fall on the back of his head.

According to AD Media, Murphy then confronted the man and asked him to turn away when sneezing. After the passenger apologized, a couple entered the bus and sat down on the seats opposite Murphy.

Since their masks were pulled under their chins, Murphy asked the couple if they could pull them over their mouths and noses.

As Murphy explained, he was met with angry responses, whereas the male passenger allegedly started swearing at him before biting him on the chest twice.

“I tried to pull myself free, but I am disabled so it was not easy,” he said.

“We tussled until the man threw himself at my chest and bit me. I couldn’t believe it. He was like a mad dog. I pushed him away, but he wouldn’t leave me alone. The whole time he tried to bite me again.”

After other passengers intervened and stopped the male passenger from attacking Murphy, the couple exited the bus and fled the scene.

As AD Media reported, the authorities later identified the couple, including the 38-year-old biter, and arrested them.

As for Murphy, he was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the bites he had suffered.

“Strangely enough, the doctor doesn’t want to do a Covid-19 test because I cannot show that the other person, the biter, was infected with the virus. Fingers crossed,” he added.
