A driver from DHL Express Singapore offered an elderly man a piggyback ride who was struggling to cross the road in Singapore.
The elderly man with a walker was struggling to cross the road. That’s when a driver from DHL Express Singapore stepped in to help the elderly man.
When he spotted the man, he parked his vehicle and came out of it to help the man cross the road.
The driver gave him a piggyback ride while pushing his walker across the road.
A man named Hambali Leonardi witnessed this heartwarming incident and was touched by his kind gesture.
“In my books, the DHL driver is a hero who went above and beyond to help the elderly man,” Leonardi later told the Singaporean publication Stomp.
“I was really touched by his kindness and felt that faith in humanity has been restored.”
Leonardi filmed the incident and shared the video with ROADS.sg which instantly went viral.
Later, the driver was identified as Anson Chung – a driver from DHL Express Singapore.
The driver was rewarded for his good deed as ROADS.sg staff wrote on their Facebook page:
“A big thank you to Mr. Hambali Leonardi who submitted this post to us and has so graciously donated the $100.00 to this DHL guy, Anson Chung. The ROADS.sg team will visit DHL on Tuesday and present the $100.00 Ang Pow to Mr. Chung personally.” (Credit: ROADS.sg)
Mr. Chung was left shocked after learning the news. He told Stomp: “I was on my way to delivery when I saw the elderly man struggling to cross the road.”
“The traffic light had already turned green and cars were stopping for him. I just wanted to help him cross the road safely so he could get home safely. That’s all that crossed my mind.”
“I am only doing what is right, so I didn’t expect it to go viral.”
