When it comes to the world of fashion, sometimes, the more bizarre it is the more noteworthy you become to a particular crowd.

Of course, earning accolades during special events is one thing but wearing these items in your daily life is another thing entirely. Standing out is good but not if it attracts the wrong type of attention.

But one shoe designer has gone out of her way to design equestrian-inspired footwear that is not only attractive but supposedly also more comfortable to wear than stiletto heels.

It’s not clear how many would appreciate having to make the choice between comfort and preserving one’s dignity. But then again, these shoes are not for your average fashion-conscious people.

Thirty-year-old Blair Ondrla owns and operates Chaos Costumes. As the name of her company implies, they don’t carry your average clothing and footwear products.

Out of the comfort of her home in Wisconsin, Blair creates what she calls hoof shoes in varying designs. If you’re looking to make an impact, these shoes will certainly make you the center of attraction, never mind that you may look like you’re ready to gallop down The Grand National or Kentucky Derby.

Blair said: “When you wear them in public, it’s a very interesting experience. Your feet become celebrities!

“If you have a cool costume to go with your hooves, people flock to you with an expression of awe, and wonder.”

Blair started making these unique shoes in 2014. She actually designed the first one when she was a teenager.

Blair said: “I’ve always been fascinated by creature designs and modifying the human silhouette to enhance the illusion.

“My clientele on average are people aged between 20 and 35 who are looking for Cosplay or Halloween costume accessories.

“A fraction is filmmakers, others are burlesque performers, some are major production companies or even celebrities!”

Other whimsical creations that have come out of Blair’s mind look right at home in the world of The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.

But despite the odd look of her hoof shoes, Blair says they’re actually more comfortable than high heels.

Blair said: “I find them easier to walk in than stiletto heels since the base platform is much wider and weighted.

“I feel elegant and ethereal when I wear them.”

It’s doubtful women will start wearing them for the office, though.
