A delivery driver was caught on camera as he appeared to spit on a charity collection bag before pushing it through the mail slot of a home.
The nasty incident took place in Hull, UK, where a delivery worker whose face mask was below his chin appeared to spit on one of the parcels before posting it through the letter hole.
As Hull Live reported, the parcel that the man delivered was a charity collection bag that was being distributed by SOS Clothes in the name of Tree of Hope charity.
In the disturbing footage, the man appears to spit on the bag before folding it in half. After checking the bag from all sides, the delivery worker proceeds by slipping the parcel through the mail slot.
As the couple who received the charity bag revealed, they were lucky to see the footage before touching the parcel. After throwing the bag away, they shared the footage to warn people about potential dangers and urge them to be careful.
“It’s awful. I’m just making people aware. We were shocked mainly and just concerned as we have elderly people living down the street who are shielding,” the couple reportedly said.
“I can zoom in and the noise is telling. I don’t want to come across that I am saying he is spitting, just as a disclaimer, as he very well could just be blowing on it but that is still not good in this current climate.
“I don’t want it to stop people using charity bags, but just want to make sure they are safe to use and won’t cause any harm.”
After the incident, the couple alerted the police and the charity. As of this writing, the case remains under investigation and it is yet to be determined whether the deliveryman actually spat on the charity bag or not.
“When we received this complaint this morning we immediately passed it onto our distributor at SOS Clothes Ltd to investigate as we do with all issues which we take extremely seriously,” Tree of Hope CEO Gill Gibb confirmed.
“We train all our collectors to adhere to all Fundraising Regulator guidelines and Sam will contact you with the results of the investigation and what he intends to do.
“Tree of Hope apologizes for any distress caused and can confirm that Sam is in contact with the complainant directly and that he will keep us abreast of developments.”
