A pizza delivery man has been honored for rescuing two young girls being abused by their father after he saw a child naked on the bed while delivering an order to their motel room.
Mark Buede, a Papa John’s employee, was delivering pizza to a motel room in the Catalina Motel in Lexington when he saw a man and a naked girl behind him.
“I got back to the car, and I said, “That didn’t seem right”,” Buede told his daughter Faith Buede, who also works for the company.
He told the Lexington Herald-Leader: “I didn’t know what was going on. I just knew it wasn’t right.”
Buede immediately called police and officers found two young girls hiding in the room. Further investigations found out that the man had been sexually abusing his children.
The delivery man and the three officers who investigated the case, William Phillips, Zakary Ridener and Corey Sutton, received a public service medal given by the Lexington Police Department for their heroic actions.
During the ceremony, programs had shared the incident. It said: “After knocking on the door to the room, [police officers] heard a “scream” from a young girl.
“Inside the room the officers found ‘two young girls hiding behind a bed’.
“This discovery led the officers to begin an in depth investigation, which included ensuring the safety of the girls. Over the course of a few hours, probable cause was developed indicating that the man had been abusing his daughters,” said the statement.
The father arrested and charged with multiple offenses.
