Fishermen Rescued A Struggling Deer In The Ocean Six Miles Away From The Shore

When Rob Kurdy and his friends went out fishing, they had high hopes.

They probably dreamed of catching something really big.

This group of friends, however, definitely weren’t thinking about the possibility of catching a deer.

Earlier this year, Kurdy and his buddies went shark fishing in the Long Island Sound. As they were returning back, they spotted something highly unusual.
It was a full sized deer trying desperately to stay afloat.

At first, Kurdy and his friends were understandably confused. How on earth did this deer end up 6 miles off shore?
Once they got a closer look, though, it was clear that there was no time for discussion.
The water was about 58 degrees, and this deer was clearly getting nowhere. This deer was going to die if they didn’t do something about it. And something had to be done quickly.

So, the group decided to help out by throwing a lifeline to the deer. Then, they tied the rope gently around its antlers, and towed the deer back to the shore. At about two-miles-per hour, the whole process took for more than a hour.

When they got close to the shore, another problem came up: The deer had no energy left to move on its own.
Without any hesitation, Kurdy decided to put on a life jacket and jumped in. Then, he carried the deer back to the beach.

Even when the deer made it safely back to the beach, this distressed animal still needed help. As the deer continued to shake and shiver, Kurdy and his friends brought blankets to warm him back up. Thankfully, this lucky deer later was able to stand up and walk away on his own.
