‘Death Diving’ Belly Flop Championships Is The Scariest Sporting Event Ever

Det Internasjonale Dødseforbundet, which translates to the “World Championship of Death Diving,” is the deadliest sport, and the player faces pain, and sometimes it can cause you much more.

It consists of people jumping from a 10-meter-high board and landing in the water with their arms and legs spread out like an “X”, and they need to hold the pose for as long as possible before they hit the water. In this sport, the main goal of the contest is to see who can do the most impressive belly flop into a pool from a high dive platform.

The concept is simple, Jump off something very tall into a body of water, and try to make it look as painful as humanly possible.

Divers are judged on running speed, jump height, jump length, acrobatics, the degree of difficulty, holding a pose before entry, entry style and a favorite of all for the punters watching, splash size.

One person wrote:

You can tell a lot of these divers know what they’re doing, not just some random joe’s. They always fold at the very last second to avoid a flat landing, that takes experience and training.

Some people think it’s impressive to jump into the water and not do anything fun in the air or make a big splash… I’m glad you all got your priorities straight!

The world championships were held on Friday and winner Emil Lybekk took home the crown with a twisting, horizontal corkscrew, which ended in a belly flop.

A third added:

For any of you saying that it’s boring, and they’re not doing any crazy flips. It’s exciting in the fact that they could easy rupture a lung from 10 meters up and or die if they were to not fold at the last second. That’s why they call it death diving.

The competitors take it extremely seriously, with many stretching and encouraging noise from the crowd as they wait their turn on the diving board.
