DC Comics Introduces Gender-Fluid Character Who Uses Gender-Neutral Pronouns


DC Comics has welcomed a gender-fluid character into the ranks of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

Making history, DC Comics created a character that can not only travel at hypersonic speed but also refer to other people using gender-neutral pronouns such as they and them.

The character, who is named Kid Quick, is the first-ever non-binary character in the popular franchise The Flash.

Kid Quick is set to make their first appearance in December as they will play a part in DC’s holiday-themed alternative-universe version known as DC’s Very Merry Multiverse.

As reported by The Mary Sue, Kid Quick, who goes by the name Jess Chambers, will also join heroes in the upcoming book series known as Future State: Justice League as the first non-binary Flash ever.

While several characters have previously gained The Flash abilities, Kid Quick will be the first with the mentioned superpowers to refer to people using gender-fluid pronouns such as they and them rather than he and him or she and her.

Speaking of the new character, writer Ivan Cohen expressed:

“There are so many Flash characters in the DC Multiverse and we knew anyone we added to that category had to be really different from the rest.

“We’ve got this super-fast character, Kid Quick, and I thought Kid can really be any gender.”

While Kid Quick represents the first-ever non-binary Flash, other gender-fluid heroes, including Suicide Squad’s Aerie, were previously introduced into the DC universe.
