An outraged mother poured her anger out on the retailer Claire’s Accessories after her 7-year-old daughter had surgery on her ear because her earring got stuck in the back of her ear.
Enraged Suzie Nisbet says that she was assured by the staff of the high-end retail store of complete wellness after 3 weeks of piercing.
She got her daughter Lily’s ears pierced in the place and they said she would be perfectly fine if the care lotion is continuously applied on the ear and in 3 weeks time, the earring will be fine to change. The care lotion they gave the mother was for £15 and had to be applied daily for 15 days.
Suzie said she tried all the traditional methods and took proper care with the lotion but the wound still formed.
At first, she thought it’s the regular pain and did some twists and turns to take the earring out but it kept bleeding for some time.Even after a month of removal of the earring, Lily still complained and cried out of pain in her ear. This was too much to handle for a child her age and her mother couldn’t help her.
One day when a family friend who is a nurse by profession came over dinner at their place, she looked at the area of pain. After she saw the wound, she suggested Suzie take Lily to a doctor and get a proper checkup done.
They went to The Princess Alexandra Hospital’s A&E department in Harlow, and Lily had to spend more than 4 hours there. She cried out in pain while the doctors tried to pull the earring out. It was hurting her so much that it took two nurses to help her. One kept her lying down and the other one was trying to take the earring out.
The company claims that the lotion is safe and good to use but in any other circumstances, it is better to go to a doctor.
Suzie was furious at the company because they assured her that Lily will be fine and the earring could be removed in 3 weeks.
Lily had severe pain and her mother couldn’t do anything to help her.
