About 18 years ago, Jim and Beth adopted a newborn baby girl named Maddie.
It was all wonderful until life threw them a major curveball the parents couldn’t handle.
When Maddie turned 9, she was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder. That’s when things started to change between her and her adoptive parents.
Maddie is aware of her condition. She completely understands that she can be volatile and difficult. The young girl also knows the importance of mental health treatment. However, she feels like her parents have used her illnesses against her. The couple made her feel that she is the reason why they have a dysfunctional family.
Maddie also shared that Jim and Beth kicked her out of the house multiple times. They also hospitalized her against her will. According to her, they were doing this because she was not the ideal or “perfect child” they thought she would be when they adopted her.

In an interview, Maddie said that she felt unloved and that her parents regret their decision to take her as their own. She also shared that her parents had her arrested two times, which were the scariest experience of her life. Maddie also recalled that she heard her mom said that she wished she would’ve thought more about this adoption.
Jim also admitted that he had second thoughts. “There are times when I’ve wondered what it would be like to have my own children,” he said. “She doesn’t fit in.”
