When I was a teenager, I remember the fun of attending school dances.

Getting dressed up and heading to the school gym on a Saturday night with a group of friends was a rite of passage. I still have pictures documenting the various outfits, shoes, and flowers that felt like such an important part of growing up.

Unfortunately for Kailah, her family could not afford to buy her a dress for the spring formal. She wanted to feel special like all the other girls her age and wear a dress that made her shine. So she decided to get a job and save up for the perfect dress—a glittery blue ball gown.

But after saving the money and heading back to buy the dress, she found out that it had already been sold.

Luckily for Kailah, her father Jeremy was the person who bought the dress before she could.

In a sweet twist, Jeremy saved money and purchased the dress and then surprised Kailah with the unexpected gift on Christmas morning.

The father of two teenage daughters captured the whole thing on video. Kailah is at first stunned, then begins to cry from her father’s generosity. She can’t believe that she gets to wear her dream dress after all.

This fairytale story demonstrates how much a simple kindness can bring joy to a person’s life. The gift just goes to show the work that parents will do to make their children happy. The moment is magical for the young teen.

Viewers of the video agree. Many understand the desire to provide what sometimes seem like unnecessary expenses for their kids.

One commenter said, “being able to provide your kids with something that they want is the greatest feeling…. good job Mom and Dad.”

“Kudos to the parents for teaching their children the value of working hard for what you want, but also the spirit of generosity and gratitude,” wrote another.

We can all remember moments like these from our youth when out parents pulled out all the stops just to make us happy. I bet Kailah will remember this dress and the happiness she felt when she received it as a gift for years and years to come.
