Ryan Wells who saved a dog at the risk of his own life received a tribute by his friends for his selfless act.
The 21-year-old dad didn’t think twice before jumping into the River Weaver in Northwich after one of his dogs slipped into the water.
The young dad was described as “loving and generous” by his loved ones and his family set up a fundraising page to pay for Ryan’s funeral and to provide a better life to his three-year-old daughter Evie.
Ryan’s mother Charlotte told The Sun Online: “Ryan was my beautiful son, he was so loving and generous if you ever had a problem he was always there.”
“Ryan was a very sensitive boy, him and his dad Terry were always having banter and they worked together, he told his dad everything. Ryan had a beautiful baby girl they were inseparable and now she’s lost him.”
“My heart has been ripped out, I can’t explain the pain. I will never get over this. Me and his dad miss and love him so so much.”
Megan who is a mother of Ryan’s daughter said that Ryan was a great dad and she will keep his memory alive. She said: “Ryan was the best daddy.”
“Both Evie and Ryan loved each other very much and you could tell this just by looking at them both together. Evie loved spending time with her dad and enjoyed all the things they did together. Ryan will be greatly missed by both Evie and me but we will make sure we keep his memory alive.”
The unfortunate incident happened near Weir Street and the rescued services immediately arrived at the scene when they were informed about it.
They spotted Ryan’s girlfriend hanging on the side of a steep embankment. The team rushed to shift her to the safe place as well as rescued the dogs. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find Ryan even after a search that included a police helicopter and underwater rescue team.
They said: “On arrival, a 20-year-old woman from Northwich was hanging on the side of a steep embankment. Firefighters put a ladder alongside the embankment and helped her to get out of the water and onto dry land.”
“Sadly, at around 2:10 pm, the underwater rescue team found a body in the river.”
Ryan’s death was confirmed as an accident by Cheshire Police. His friends paid tribute to him and remembered him as a young man “who would do anything for anyone.”
One wrote: “R.I.P big man you was a top lad and a good lad to work with u will be missed and never forgotten.”
Another said: “RIP to the man who helped me through a lot and never failed to put a smile on my face and never left me through the tough times, the most kind-hearted person I have ever met.”
