A father has gone viral after building a high climbing wall for his two sons to make sure they’re getting proper exercise amid coronavirus lockdown.
With outdoor movement restrictions in place, 39-year-old David Oswell wanted to make sure his sons, aged 11 and 12, stay physically active.
To make this possible and put unused space in their home to good use, Mr. Oswell decided to build a tall climbing wall on top of their staircase.
In just five days of hard work, the walls surrounding the staircase have been transformed into a climbing wall with over one hundred handgrips and a safety rope hanging from the ceiling.
“My youngest son Eddie is really into climbing and his older brother George enjoys a good go. So, I’ve been collecting materials for quite some time now with the intention of building something,” the UK-based father said.
As David explained, the entire project didn’t cost him much and only took him four to five days to finish thanks to a lot of free time he had on his hands due to the lockdown.
“This is a first time build for me although I’ve been in the construction industry for many years so have the practical experience,” he added.
“This was initially a birthday present when started and rolled into a lockdown entertainment and fitness thing as it completed just in time with the closure of the local climbing walls in our area.”
According to the dad, his kids love having their own climbing wall and he’s received a lot of praise after his creation went viral.
