A grieving father has begged his girlfriend for an explanation after she got arrested and accused of taking the life of his 5-year-old son.
Theresa Balboa, 29, was found in a motel room with a foul-smelling bag containing a child’s remains. The body is believed to belong to Samuel Olson, who would’ve celebrated his sixth birthday on Saturday.
“I don’t know what’s going on. I can barely breathe,” Samuel’s heartbroken father Dalton Olson told KRPC2.
“Why? He loved you so much. I do not understand what happened. Why did you, why did you do this?” Mr. Olson asked.
Balboa has been arrested and charged with evidence tampering after police found her with the body. More charges are expected.
According to reports, Samuel was last seen alive by his grandmother, Tonya Olson, who said she spent the weekend with him on May 8.
On May 27, Balboa reported the child missing.
Court documents filed on Thursday said that Balboa allegedly told her roommate on May 10 that Samuel was dead – two weeks before he was reported missing.
The roommate told police that when he returned to the apartment from work, he saw the child on the bed, unresponsive and covered in bruises.
He and Balboa allegedly moved the boy to the bathtub where they left the boy for two days.
The roommate bought a plastic bin and duct tape then wrapped up the child before moving the remains to a storage facility.
Balboa was arrested after she was found with the foul-smelling plastic bin in a hotel room. She is likely to face more charges after the cause of death has been determined and the body identified.
