Dad Became An Instagram Sensation After His Daughter Explained To Him What An Influencer Is

A construction worker has become an Instagram sensation after he found out what it meant to be an influencer.

It all started when Omar from Austin, Texas asked his daughter what influencing was. When she explained what it meant, the father responded: “Pssh, I could do that.”

Omar created his Insta account @justaconstructionguy and began sharing snaps from his daily life as a construction worker.

His first photo was posted on May 4th, 2019. And as of now, he has already gained more than 520,000 followers.

The Instagram users literally went crazy for every picture the influencer posted.

One user said: “This is honestly so much better than like every other influencer on Insta rn bc you’re just having fun and I respect that.”

Another person tagged their mate, writing: “Look at this guy’s account.

Someone wrote: “I’ve never followed any influencers, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. Awesome photos and captions.”

Unfortunately, all of it turned out to be a big marketing trick which, no doubt, went extremely successful – thanks to Omar’s charismatic personality.

In case you haven’t already guessed it, the entire thing was staged as a marketing strategy to advertise coffee – Cuvée Coffee, to be precise.

And it went so successful that Omar has gained a whopping number of followers.

Just a decade ago, only megastars and celebrities were considered a wise choice for the influencer marketing arena.

At the time, as Taylor Lorenz noted in the Atlantic, almost all of Instagram influencers had the same particular look which was crafted in artificiality.

Now that the platform has gained more than a billion users per month, the rules are not the same.

Lynsey Eaton, the co-founder of the influencer-marketing agency Estate Five, said: “Previously, influencers used to say, ‘Oh, that’s not on brand,’ or only post things shot in a certain light or with a commonality.

“For the younger generation, those rules don’t apply at all.”

The millennial influencers did pay heed to the older norms as they continued their attempts to get perfect shots using their DSLRs and photo editing techniques, but the next generation took up just their mobile phones for the purpose.

It is partly because people don’t pay attention to anything which has been staged.

Well, unless you have done it so perfectly that no one can guess it’s staged – just like what Omar did!
