A customer surprised a McDonald’s employee in Kansas as he gifted her a car.
Vicki Anderson first served Chris Ellis, owner of Ergonomic Solutions Inc., in the drive-thru at the South Hutchinson McDonald’s.
Anderson and Ellis became friends and Ellis would often visit Anderson after returning from hunting.
“She was so friendly at the drive-up window. If you can laugh at 6:30. It’s hard to do sometimes” Ellis said.
One day, Anderson, who found it difficult to travel as her car had died, asked Ellis if there’s someone who was selling their as her car was not working.
And, she couldn’t repair it as the cost of repairs needed was exceeding the actual cost of her 1994 Oldsmobile.
“Fate looked me in the eye when she told me that story. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. … I said, ‘I have to do something’” Ellis said.
Ellis’ son, Josh was trying to sell his Pontiac. Ellis asked Josh if he would mind selling it for a lower price.
Josh said if it was for a good cause, he wouldn’t mind.
Ellis then managed to purchase the black Pontiac and then decided to surprise Anderson.
As Anderson’s manager called her to the front of the store, Anderson asked: “Am I getting fired?”
Ellis reminded her of their conversation and said that the black Pontiac is for her.
Anderson couldn’t believe and thought it was a joke. But, when he handed her the keys, she couldn’t stop her tears.
“God bless you,” she told Ellis. When Ellis was asked by Anderson how she could repay him, he said, “Just pay it forward when you can.”
Now, Anderson plans to give rides to others who don’t have a car which she used to do when her car had not died.
“I believe that’s what God wants us to do — to help one another,” she told The Wichita Eagle.
The video of Ellis surprising Anderson and gifting her a car was posted online which instantly went viral.
“It was amazing. It’s still amazing. I watched the video today and cried twice” Ellis said.
