After exactly a month of battling the novel coronavirus, CNN’s Chris Cuomo announced that he has tested negative for Covid-19. He broke the news on Cuomo Prime Time, which he had continued to host from his basement even after he was diagnosed with the virus.

Moreover, he said that he had formed both antibodies, as there are both short-term and long-term antibodies. Cuomo asked Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the network’s chief medical correspondent, if this meant he had immunity against the virus.

Gupta said that many virologists agree that the formation of antibodies is the equivalent of having immunity for this virus. However, he also emphasized that more testing needs to be done before a medical consensus on the efficacy of antibodies can be reached.

Gupta also relayed the theory that patients who were ill more may have more potent antibodies. We had previously written about Cuomo’s conditions not long after he tested positive for the virus. He shared how the symptoms would get worse when he tried to sleep, with extreme fever being the most obvious.

Although Cuomo has tested negative, his wife Cristina and his 14-year-old son Mario are also known to have contracted the virus and is getting treated. The conditions of their two daughters have not been discussed in public.

Perhaps because he got to know the pains of the virus so personally, Cuomo said that he would do everything to help scientists find a cure or vaccine for the disease. In a conversation with Gupta, Cuomo said that he was even willing to give blood for the first time in 49 years.

He told Gupta that he had never given blood before because he was scared. However, Cuomo said that if doctors or scientists ask that he give blood for treatment purposes, he would do it even if it means that he may faint. Gupta said that such sample may help up to 4 people.

Currently, the World Health Organization has denied that contracting the virus grants automatic immunity to the patient. It was a countermeasure to governments that were considered granting so-called immunity passports for those with antibodies.

Nevertheless, we congratulate Cuomo for his recovery, and hope that his family members recover as well. Share this story with your friends, and be sure to follow us on Facebook for more news like this one.
