A couple from the Philippines has gone viral after tying the knot while a volcano was spewing ash and lava in the background.
The one-of-a-kind wedding occurred in Alfonso whereas the couple, Kat and Chino, was enjoying their wedding at the Savannah Farm with Taal volcano in the background.
While the alert level of the world’s smallest active volcano was only at 2 out of 5 when the couple’s ceremony started, the situation quickly escalated as the volcano started spewing ash violently, reaching the alert level of 4.
Since the wedding was already in action, the family and the crew did their best to not let the eruption ruin the event and take some awesome pictures in the process.
“Then halfway through the ceremony it goes up to level 4, that’s the time the wedding planner and coordinator were starting to talk to the Chino and Kat about the matter,” photographer Randolf Evan explained.
“Surprisingly the mood throughout the day was calm. It was an intimate wedding so most of the couple’s guests were family and close friends.
“Funny enough, the smoke from the volcano just kind of like served as an entertaining backdrop changing from white, yellow, pink and finally to grey.”
The Taal volcano is located just 45 miles from the country’s capital, Manila, and poses a threat to millions of people due to the areas surrounding it being well-populated and popular among tourists.
“We just did our work as usual, but the challenge was for us to talk to them and help maintain their composure as the situation showed no sign of stopping,” Evan continued.
“Our team, as well as the rest of the suppliers, was just getting a feel if the couple wanted to postpone or not. They ended up going ahead with everything as we later found out that they have been planning for this day for eight years.”
As the photographer added, the wedding was a success, whereas the couple was “able to do their vows, first dance and speeches” before the ceremony was cut short and the people evacuated.
