According to the reports, the Perth-based couple said they believed that homosexuality is a sin after workers asked them how they would react if their adopted child belonged to the LGBTQI community.

In addition, the parents allegedly claimed that such sin can be resisted and that they would help their child counter homosexuality.

After their application was assessed back in 2017, the couple received a letter informing them that their application was denied because they failed to meet the criteria of being able to provide a safe living environment for the foster children.

Following the ruling, the couple decided to sue the foster home in question for “religious discrimination,” whereas their case will be taken to court next month.

“We do feel we have been discriminated against and also we felt that if we were quiet about this and didn’t say anything about it, it could potentially harm or limit any people with the same Christian values as ours from fostering,” Byron said in an interview with The West Australian.

“We hold traditional Christian views on how the Bible teaches us on sexuality and marriage. We stated it from the beginning. We are not here to hide behind it.

“Everyone — particularly with a divisive issue — is afraid of being put into the realm of public opinion in a negative light. And my beliefs are strong enough that this might be my cross to bear.”
