Latisha and Timothy Mark Harron from Las Vegas have been accused of stealing $13million from Medicaid to buy luxury cars, a private jet, designer clothes, and jewelry.
According to a press release, the couple worked together to carry out the ‘massive fraud’ on the North Carolina Medicaid program.
They reportedly carried out their evil scheme by billing the government for what was described as ‘fictitious home services.’
The couple are accused of spending Medicaid money on properties in North Carolina, gym equipment, expensive cars, and a British Aerospace Bae 125-800Acosting private jet.
Special Agent in Charge Derrick L. Jackson said: “Stealing taxpayer money from a health care program designed to care for the poor and disabled just to bankroll a private jet and other luxury products – as alleged in this case – is reprehensible.”
He added: “Our hardworking investigators and law enforcement partners are committed to making sure such greed-fueled fraud is uprooted and those who commit it are held accountable for their actions.”
Harron’s Instagram page shows photos of the couple posing in front of their private jet and having luxurious vacations.
Also photographed are each of their vehicles. 50-year-old Timothy has an Aston Martin supercar with a license plate that reads ‘Mr. Tim’ while his wife’s Mercedes G-class AMG costs over $127,650.
Other photos show over 30 bottles of Russian vodka, piles of Louis Vuitton shopping bags, and at least 27 boxes from Tiffany & Co.
According to the DOJ, the couple searched through obituaries to find people who had recently passed away.
They fraudulently billed the Medicaid program for over $10 million between 2017 and 2019.
The couple have been indicted on seven charges including aggravated identity theft, conspiracy to commit money laundering, making false statements related to healthcare matters, and conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and wire fraud.
