Church Told To Find LGBT Church When Polyamorous Couple Opened Up About Their Relationship

A throuple from Baltimore says that being polyamorous and Christian is not a sin.

33-year-old Katie and 36-year-old Luis Simbala first met at the church where they both performed as musicians.

The couple then got married and now have been married for 13 years.

In 2012, Katie met 26-year-old Raquel Martinez and became close friends. The two women dated for three years and then decided to have a polyamorous relationship with Luis in 2017.

Now, the ‘throuple’ live with their four-year-old son, Lukas.

However, the ‘throuple’ receives backlash because of their relationship. Katie and Raquel’s families also criticized the relationship.

Raquel told Barcroft TV: “We have all shared backlash from the conservative folk – we are church kids. Our families are fundamental Christian and our relationship is seen as an abomination to God.”

Katie met Raquel at a baby shower and they both felt the instant connection.

Katie told Barcroft TV: “I look around and the first person I see is Raquel, she just had this big beautiful smile and I gravitated towards her.”

They dated for three years and then decided to have a polyamorous relationship with Luis in 2017.

Luis says about the relationship: “In the beginning, I was so sure in Katie and our relationship was so sure and solid that I didn’t feel threatened at all.”

Raquel told about the criticism she faced due to the relationship: “My family don’t want to step foot in our home, they want to live in a false reality. To my family I am still a 26-year-old single woman who is not bisexual.”

When Katie, Raquel, and Luis told about their relationship to the Pentecostal church, they received backlash.

Katie said: “The pastor was very cordial – he was in shock and didn’t know how to take it and encouraged me to find an LGBT church instead. This was the typical reaction for the majority of the people we came out to.”

Luis said: “God made us all different – there’s a lot of communication involved but we’re happy where we’re at.”

Raquel added: “It works for us, we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
