Most attics are full of moth-eaten curtains, broken toys, Christmas decorations and old photo albums.
But one couple is set to become millionaires after what they found in theirs.
The family came across a bunch of Indian artifacts from centuries back. The items are worth so much that it will be like they hit the jackpot.
The artifacts had been taken by their ancestor, British army officer Major Thomas Hart, from the palace of the ruler of Mysore, Tipu Sultan, after his defeat to the Duke of Wellington in 1799.
Their Indian treasures are expected to fetch millions of pounds.
In 2016, a sale of other pieces that had belonged to Tipu was sold for £6 million, and auctioneer Anthony Cribb said the newest collection is way more significant.
“It is impossible to put a price on these items but I would say this collection is more important than the previous one that sold,” he explained.
“That one was put together over 40 years and came from lots of different places. But these weapons were picked up at the battlement by a military officer who was there and have been in the same family for 220 years.
“When I first saw the gun I nearly fainted. It is a once in a lifetime find. The owners are just an ordinary family who live in a Victorian semi-detached house.
“You could describe this find as like a lottery win for them.”
The haul is believed to have the gun of the ‘Tiger of Mysore’ which has Tipu’s tiger stripe pattern. It was also used in his last fight against the British and has some damage caused by a musket ball that is thought to have killed him.
In addition, the family also found a gold-encrusted firangi sword with the mark of Tipu’s father, Haider Ali Khan. He was the previous ruler of Mysore.
